The ISTD – Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing
The ISTD are one of the best examination boards in the world who cover 12 dance genres. They were founded in 1904 and are still going strong .The syllabi’s provides techniques upon which to train dancers for the profession. The syllabi are designed to be cognitively challenging for the students and to push them in a healthy way. The Vocational Grades are credited by Ofqual and also count as ucas points for university credits. When passing intermediate level the ISTD offer an in-depth and complex teaching course to insure all people teaching the syllabi are knowledgeable and know how to instruct the young dancers of the future safely and know how to get the best out of them.
L.A.M.D.A – London Academy of Music and Dramatic arts
Founded in 1861 Lamda is the oldest drama school in the UK. For the last 130 years Lamda has offered exams not only for the students of the drama school, but for everyone around the world. Offering practical exams in numerous subjects, all leading to accredited awards, Lamda is one of the largest speech and drama awarding bodies in the world. Last year alone almost 98,000 candidates took exams in over 30 countries.
Anyone can take a Lamda exam regardless of experience, age, ambition or ability these exams provide a great chance for candidates to develop valuable life skills. Lamda exams broaden knowledge of literature, poetry and dramatic art and will give every person confidence in speech and communication.
ABRSM- associated board of the royal school of music
Founded in 1889, ABRSM is one of the world’s biggest and leading music education examination boards. They give graded singing and instrumental exam in 35 subjects across 93 countries. In partnership with the royal schools of music, they give the highest quality musical training to teachers who, in turn deliver the best methods, resources and pathways for their students. ABRSM believe in providing goals, encouraging progress and enabling every student to fulfill their musical potential.

We believe exam’s give children, teens and adult’s challenges and goals to strive for, as well as giving there dancing a purpose. Exams give a great sense of achievement when completed and are accompanied by fantastic accreditations for higher academic and vocational education. Not only do they make candidates more disciplined they give good practice for professional life in or out of the dance world.
Although we believe exam to be important for development we understand some families wanting dance to purely be a fun, stress free hobby for them so we will never push a student to take any exam. Please speak to xenia if you wish to discuss examinations.
Melody Bear
Melody Movement early learning is a unique dance curriculum which addresses the needs of children aged 18 months upwards. It is tailored to discovering and fulfilling the potential of each child, nurturing their creative development, whilst supporting teachers with the tools to deliver effective and happy classes in music and movement, ballet and tap dancing. Loveable teddy, Melody Bear, is the focal point of the early year’s curriculum, and all her activities, stories, ideas and dreams can be told through dance and movement. The carefully planned learning experience of each child ensures a successful transition from one stage to the next.
